Meeting proceedings

The Sixth UNGIWG Plenary Meeting held in Addis was a success. A total of 66 participants attended this year's meeting representing 14 UN agencies, 5 UN missions, and 13 different Industry Partners, NGOs, and Institutions.

The Poster Sessions where well attended with 10 exhibitors displaying various posters and map products of their work and organization's activities. The two Case Studies presented; Sudan –"Interagency cooperation in GIS and Mapping" (OCHA), and Liberia –"New frontiers for Satellite Imagery in Humanitarian Assistance" (UNOSAT) where equally well attended.

The meeting and plenary discussions made good progress on a number of key areas including action decisions on the various agenda items and Task Group 2006 work plans.
