[Unoosa-stdm] United Nations/Zambia/ESA Regional Workshop on the Applications of Global Navigation Satellite System Technologies in Sub-Saharan Africa, Lusaka, 26-30 June 2006

Dear All,

Following  the  First  Announcement  of  the above Regional Workshop we are
inviting  potential participants to submit their application forms together
with abstracts of presentations on any of the following workshop themes and
topics:

1. Overview of GNSS-based application areas in: agriculture and management
of environment; tele-health and landscape epidemiology; civil aviation and
land transportation;
2. Policies and strategies for promoting sustainable development: role of
GNSS technologies; current status of policy, issues and concerns, lessons
learnt; suggested strategies;
3. International initiatives/experiences on GNSS implementation and uses:
presentation of case studies; practical cooperation models, including
existing and/or planned models;
4. Sub-Saharan African countries initiatives/experiences on GNSS
implementation and uses in agriculture and management of environment:
description of on-going and planned initiatives, as well as case studies;
issues and concerns in implementation;
5. Sub-Saharan African countries initiatives/experiences on GNSS
implementation and uses in tele-health and landscape epidemiology:
description of on-going and planned initiatives, as well as case studies;
issues and concerns in implementation;
6. Sub-Saharan African countries initiatives/experiences on GNSS
implementation and uses in civil aviation and land transportation:
description of on-going and planned initiatives, as well as case studies;
issues and concerns in implementation;
7. Education and training in the use and applications of GNSS technologies:
status of education and training programs.

If  you  wish  to  participate,  please,  return  attached application form
together  with  abstract  of  your  presentation  by  mail  to  the address
indicated in the application form, no later than Friday, 07 April 2006.
