[UN SPIDER] November-December 2007 Updates

Dear Colleagues,

We would like to wish you all the best for the holiday season and a Happy
New Year to those in sync with the Gregorian Calendar as tomorrow will be
2008 already.

This has been a particularly rewarding year for UN-SPIDER, particularly as
the United Nations General Assembly last 21 December 2007 endorsed the full
plan of work of the programme for 2008-2009. Which means we will all be
very very busy. This includes not only the UN-SPIDER staff but also the
professonals from the Network of Regional Support Offices, all the
nominated National Focal Points and finally all the experts of the Network
of Practice. All together we can succeed in helping developing countries
access and use space-based solutions for disaster management and emergency
response.

As part of the activities for 2008 we are planning several international
and regional workshops and meetings. The next one will be the "United
Nations/Austria UN-SPIDER Workshop: Network of Regional Support Offices" to
be held in Salzburg, Austria, 07 to 09 February 2008. If you are from the
Network of Regional Support Offices or a nominated National Focal Point you
should consider participating. Iif you want to receive further information
on this Expert Meeting please contact Mr. Georg MAGERL (e-mail:
georg.magerl at unvienna.org).

Please find attached the UN-SPIDER Updates for November-December 2007. We
do hope you do forward these updates to colleagues that might benefit from
receiving this valuable information.
