Dear All,

This  is a final announcement for the United Nations/Morocco/European Space
Agency   International   Workshop  on  the  Use  of  Space  Technology  for
Sustainable  Development  to  be  held  in  Rabat from 25 to 27 April 2007.
Please  note that Workshop Participants will have the opportunity to give a
PowerPoint  type  presentation in one of the Thematic Presentation Sessions
listed  below and/or the Poster Presentation, as well as participation as a
panellist  in  one  of the Discussion Panel Sessions. Please also note that
the  working  languages  of  the  Workshop  will be French and English with
simultaneous  interpretation.  Please  also  make  a  note  of the Workshop
deadline for applications, which is Friday, 2 March 2007.

Session  1:  Space  for  sustainable  development  – Keynote addresses: (a)
Potential benefits of space technology: an overview; (b) Users perspectives

Session  2:  The  use of space technology in Africa – A vision forward: (a)
Country   presentations:  views  on  policies  and  applications  of  space
technology to environmental monitoring and management

Session 3: Space and integrated water resources management

Session 4: Space and land use management: agriculture, forest, drought and
desertification

Session 5: Space and costal and marine ecosystems management

Session 6: Capacity building

Discussion  Panels:  Perspectives  for  regional  cooperative mechanisms in
space  technology  applications  for sustainable development: requirements,
possibilities, and constraints

Final Discussion Session: Conclusions, recommendations, follow-up actions
