[UN SPIDER] Announcements: ITC Multi-hazard Risk Assessment Course, ISA/UN-SPIDER Regional Workshop in Tehran and 2nd Git4NDM Symposium

Dear Colleagues,
We would like to announce the following:
1) “Multi-hazard Risk Assessment”: organized by the International Institute
for Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation (ITC). This course deals
with evaluating risks arising from natural and human-induced disasters. It
is a 3 week module starting on 30 June 2008 and it will be held in the
Netherlands.

2) Attached please find the first announcement of the “Iranian Space
Agency/UN-SPIDER Regional Workshop: Building Upon Regional Space-based
Solutions for Disaster Management and Emergency Response” organized by the
Iranian Space Agency (ISA) with the support of the United Nations Office
for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA) / UN-SPIDER to be held in Tehran, Islamic
Republic of Iran, from 6-8 October 2008.
3) The “Second International Symposium on Natural Disaster Management” is
to be held from 2-3 December 2008 in Bangkok, Thailand. It is being
organized by the Association for Geo-Information Technology (AgIT),
UN-SPIDER being one of the co-organizers. The symposium will focus on the
use of geoinformatics for natural disaster preparedness such as earthquake,
flood, typhoon and tsunami etc., and for rehabilitation and risk management
by exploring the various causative factors. There will also be
deliberations on how to use GIS for better planning of risk areas.
