Workshops and Meetings . Upcoming Deadlines for Application

Dear Colleagues,

For this second semester UN-SPIDER is organising two Workshops, a UN-wide
Meeting and providing support to three workshops being organised by
supporting organisations. We do hope you will find the time to join and
contribute to one of the activities.

We also ask you to forward this information to colleagues that might be
interested in participating.

The first workshop will be a Regional Workshop for experts from the Pacific
Region.

“United Nations Regional UN-SPIDER Workshop: Building Upon Regional
Space-based Solutions for Disaster Management and Emergency Response for
the Pacific Region” in Suva, Fiji from 16 to 19 September 2008.

I have attached the Information Note and Application Form, Deadline for
receiving applications is 15th August 2008. Space is strictly limited to 40
participants. For further information please contact Ms. Natercia Rodrigues

The second workshop will be an International Workshop and will be held in
Bonn, Germany.

“Second United Nations International UN-SPIDER Bonn Workshop: Disaster
Management and Space Technology Bridging the Gap" in Bonn, Germany, 13 to
15 October 2008

I have attached the Information Note and Application Form, Deadline for
receiving applications is 22nd August 2008. For further information please

Then we are planning the following meeting back-to-back with the Bonn
Workshop: "5th UN-wide Meeting on the Use of Space Technologies for
Emergency Response and Humanitarian Assistance" in Bonn, Germany, 16 to 17
October 2008

This is a closed UN meeting which will bring together UN experts that are
current or potential end-user of satellite imagery as well as other
space-based information, as well as experts from other organisations that
provide value-added services using imagery for use by UN agencies and
departments. Further information can be obtained from Mr. Tony Lyu

(jalayerian at isa.ir). Workshop to be carried out in English.

"CRASTE-LF Workshop International - L'Outil Spatial au Service de la
Gestion des Catastrophes et des Situations d'Urgence en Afrique" in Rabat,
Morocco, 10 to 12 November 2008. Organisé par Le Centre Régional Africain
des Sciences et Technologies de l'Espace en Langue Française (CRASTE-LF)
