[UN SPIDER] GPDRR - Space Technology Special Events and Exhibition Booth

[UN SPIDER]

   Dear Colleagues,



   The Second Session of the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction -
   GPDRR is the paramount gathering of the world's risk reduction
   community, setting the disaster reduction agenda for the coming two
   years and beyond - with this year's event particularly pivotal in the
   run up to `sealing the deal' at the Copenhagen Climate Change
   Conference in December 2009.



   A record 1,500 delegates from more than 150 Governments and over 120
   regional and national Organizations have registered to attend the
   occasion - in Geneva's International Conference Centre, 16-19 June 2009
   - bringing together Government decision-makers, policy advisers, UN
   Agencies, international Organizations, scientific and technical
   experts, representatives from academic institutions and many others.



   There will be two special events this year supported by UN-SPIDER.



   The first one will be



   SE5:Accessing Space-based Infomation to Support Disaster Risk Reduction



   on Tuesday 16 June 2009, 13:20 - 15:00 PM

   änd the second one will be

   SE 27: Global Change and Wildfire

   on Thursday 18 June 2009 08:30 - 9:30 in Room 15

   During the first event we will be launching the "SPIDER Global Thematic
   Partnership" to contribute to the Access and Use of Space-based
   Information to Support Disaster Risk Management.

   Please find attached further information on the events and information
   on the SPIDER Global Thematic Partnership.

   Please note also that we will also be present at the Market Place and
   we invite all interested in touching base to come by our exhibition
   booth (Booth 17).
