   Esteemed Colleagues,

   As part of its 2009 Outreach activities, the UN-SPIDER programme is
   organising the "United Nations International UN-SPIDER Workshop:
   Building Capacities to Reduce Disasters" to take place in Vienna, on
   2-4 June, 2009. Please mark it in your calendar and make it a point to
   join us in the Vienna International Centre to discuss the most recent
   advances in space-based technologies for disaster-risk management and
   emergency response; to advance the agenda of UN-SPIDER on the issue of
   capacity building; and to discuss strategies regarding how to support
   Small Island Developing States using space-based information and
   services, particularly in the context of vulnerability to climate
   change.

   The attached Information Note describes all the details concerning this
   workshop and also included the Application Form. Please take a note of
   the DEADLINE: THURSDAY, APRIL 30, 2009, to register for this important
   workshop.

   Please note also that this meeting will take place side-by-side with
   the fifty-second session of the Committee on the Peaceful Uses of Outer
   Space: 2009 which will take place on the same floor of the Conference
