VMAP1 is seen as an important core global data layer for much of the work undertaken throughout the UN. Gaining access and making the VMAP1 available to the UN is one of the activities being pursued by UNGIWG.

At a different level, building an inventory listing of all the VMAP1 data tiles currently available and/or being made use of within the UN community would serve as a good means of providing leverage in our longer-term goal of gaining access to the full VMAP1 dataset.

A Survey Questionnaire has been developed to help us build this inventory list. We encourage you to complete this Survey Form (updated version 5-04-2006) and forward it to the UNGIWG Secretariat. Instructions have been included in the Form.

The results of the survey will be made available and shared within UNGIWG. We hope to do this by the beginning of May 2006.
